The Lightness of Change: A Pathway to Your Role in a Better World
Why focusing on what you’re for, not against, is the game-changing mindset we need now.
How we frame where we are, can help us get clarity, and ensure we focus on the right areas.
This is much needed in today’s world where distraction is everywhere.
And yet today is where we need to be clear as to which part we play and where we are drawn to.
Thankfully there are only 2 options.
Have a read and let me know!
Freedom From
Most of what I see in the media and in social media is predominantly trying to get freedom from a certain organisation, paradigm, government or person. Naturally, there is a time and a place for this. However, as we saw with frame theory, giving energy to an old frame, even if we are speaking up against it, is still supporting the old frame. We need to create the vision of the new frame and bring all our energies to bear on it. The new vision can be underpinned by the values we see needed in it. These values, because they do not exist in the old frame, will support the foundation of the new vision.
The ‘old’ is so heavy and hardwired to us, it takes discipline to keep our focus solely on the new. The new is light and also unchartered and yet it is available to us in every moment. This is where freedom for comes in.
Freedom For
In most cases in history, the destructive energies involved in taking down or destroying a paradigm were not the energies needed to create and build the next one. In a lot of cases, the people involved were also different. It can be easy to fight against a paradigm, be that a corporation or a government; it can come more naturally to us. However, when that paradigm crumbles, there can be a limbo without many solid tangible alternatives on which to move forward and build the future.
Freedom for asks, ‘What can we walk towards?’
This is the ultimate rebellious act, not one that is against something or someone, but an act that is for something, for a new authentic way of being in the world.
We can have lots of fears, and they can paralyse us.
We can say it’s someone else’s job, but deep inside, we all want to do something to help.
What does the vision of that custodians’ world look like?

Thank you. Rather I focus forward and create something new than dwell in things that no longer serve. Freedom for. ❤️
This reminds me of a principle I read in the book 'the path of least resistance'.
Change is restricted because we oscillate between one of two extremes and become stuck there. But really, like you say, we need to go beyond this polarisation and construct our own frame from creative vision.
