Thank you. Rather I focus forward and create something new than dwell in things that no longer serve. Freedom for. ❤️

Yes that's the core message alright.

I do feel there are people whose soul's calling maybe 'freedom from', but we need to be sure we make the choice consciously and no be swept along by others or by a movement that is not really who we are.

Such an important distinction. How much energy is spent looking backward. It’s a noble endeavor to try to change what has been created but oh what could we create if we focused all that energy on something that hasn’t been yet? Thank you for your thought provoking pieces. ❤️

Thank you for reading, yes.

For me, there is a lot of energy and emotion on the past and so we can easily gravitate our attention there. The new doesn’t have that and so we really have to stay conscious to keep our attention on it.

This reminds me of a principle I read in the book 'the path of least resistance'.

Change is restricted because we oscillate between one of two extremes and become stuck there. But really, like you say, we need to go beyond this polarisation and construct our own frame from creative vision.

Exactly Ben, well put. Creative Vision, yes.

For some reason this reminds me of the Toltecs and their wisdom teachings.

I really appreciate this contrast between freedom from and freedom for. Very clarifying.

freedom from or freedom for ~ that is indeed a crucial decision. The difference lies in the prepositions. It looks small but is huge.

Freedom from is not necessarily freedom. It can imply resistance against something we try to get away from, which means all our energy is still being spent on the person, organisation, paradigm, whatever it is we wish to liberate ourselves from.

Freedom for means investing all our energy in the new we truly believe in and yearn to create.

Veronika, exactly and ‘Freedom For’ is where the creatives, like yourself, shine. 💚

I like this framing. It is, I think, what I am trying to do with my writing, at least to some degree. And I think there will be a rebound from oligarchic rule with opportunities to push civilisation forward. We should be ready with visions and choices of what that may look like.

Hi Dan, I think I’ve commented on this in another reply. Please let me know if I haven’t. (But I agree totally with what you are saying and doing!)
